Identifying regional issues and exploring solutions with the community
The Faculty offers a range of Local Internship Program (LIP) in partnership with local governments in Wakayama, southern Osaka and other parts of Japan. Students in small groups visit regional areas and research issues and problems arising in the community through observation, monitoring tourism facilities, work experience, interviews, community consultation and discussion; they investigate possible tourism resources, effective use of tourism facilities or approaches to community revitalisation. Exchange of opinions between students and community members often lead to new perspectives, approaches and solutions. Students, while considering tourism and regional areas, gain understanding of regional communities as well as knowledge and skills to revitalize regional communities.
