In today’s globalised social contexts, opportunities to ‘feel the world’ is essential for students seeking a career in tourism. The Faculty provides students with a wide range of opportunities in international studies and internships to understand tourism as a global phenomenon by actually being a tourist in an international setting as well as studying cultural exchange, ecotourism and homestay. GIP is highly valued by participants as a learning experience and unforgettable in student life.
Queensland, Australia --Tourism + Environment
Queensland is a state located on Australia’s east coast and is famous for nature attractions such as the Great Barrier Reef, Gold Coast and tropical hinterland forests. This “Tourism and Environment” study program is based in Brisbane. It includes an intensive course at the University of Queensland, fieldwork at Binna Burra Mountain Lodge located adjacent to world heritage area, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, unique in the world with its 130 koalas and Tangalooma Marine Education Center known for its wild dolphin experience and environmental management initiatives. Each student are allocated with a homestay, where there are plenty of opportunities for practice and communication in English.
Oxford, United Kingdom --Tourism + Culture
Oxford is a university town with art galleries, historic buildings and the famous Harry Potter film location. Historic Hertford College is where students stay and participate in the program. This internship focuses on enhancing skills in English while deepening cross-cultural understanding between the UK and Japan, which is a priority of this program. Local students provide support during this 3 week summer program.
