Tourism has been developing dramatically in both volume and quality in the 21st century and is recognised as central to Japan’s national strategic plan. In this context, the Doctoral Program at the Graduate School of Tourism aims to train academic innovators equipped with generic skills, highly accomplished specialisation and interdisciplinary scholarship and who can contribute to furthering tourism research in Japan to the highest international standard.
- Interdisciplinary learning system applies multilateral approaches. While the chief supervisor is elected from the student’s main research field chosen from one of the three units: Tourism Management, Regional Revitalisation and Tourism & Culture, sub-supervisors will be from other fields. Candidates will be supported by an experienced multilateral supervisory team.
- Candidates can investigate a wide range of fields, while focusing on the main research field.
- In the supervisory team, the chief supervisor coordinates and facilitates research progress.
