4. Job description
1) Education: 20%
a. Contribution to teaching and learning related activities
b. Provision of support for educational activities
(e.g., seminars and workshops)
2) Research: 60%
a. Development of research activities including publishing scholarly papers,
research presentations at conferences, leading collaborative research
projects.?
b. Participation in applications for competitive external funds including
scientific research funds (International and Japan-based).
c. Contribute to the advancement and enhancement of international CTR
research activities including international events, projects, paper
submissions and research presentations.
3) Social Engagement and outreach:10%
a. Contribution to CTR activities including conferences, seminars, and
?webinars.
b. Dissemination of CTR academic events, research projects and
publications.
4) Management:10%
a. Contribution to CTR’s international engagement including joint
research and support for MoU
b. Support with visiting scholars when required
5. AppointmentOctober 1, 2021 or later (earliest possible date)
6. Qualification requirements
Candidates are expected to meet the following requirements:
1) Holding a doctoral degree in tourism or related field by the time of
appointment, or the evidence of equivalent work experience
2) Proficiency in English to conduct research and education activities
(Proficiency in Japanese is not mandatory)
3) Having appropriate experience related to the position
7. Condition
? Term: From the date of employment to March 31, 2022.? This is
?a full time, fixed term position for up to three years with six months
probational period. No renewal shall be made on or after
the 1st April after the date of reaching the age of 70.
? At the end of the contracted period, the contract may be renewed
in consideration of performance and financial situation of university.
? Employment type: 5 days a week, basic working hours 8:30 to 17:15
? Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, New Year holidays
(Dec 29- Jan 3) (The details are based on the employment regulations
of Wakayama University specially appointed academic staff)
8. Benefits
? Salary: Annual base salary 4,080,000 Japanese Yen?
??Allowance: Commuting allowance (to be paid based on the university
regulations if the payment requirements are met)(For details, refer to
the Wakayama University Special-appointed Staff Salary Regulations)
? Welfare: Health insurance, welfare pension insurance, employment
insurance, workers' compensation insurance
