An Astrotourism (also referred to as Starlight tourism) project with our university and Yoron island in Kagoshima Prefecture, which the CTR researcher has promoted, Prof. Masami Okyudo (Faculty of Tourism) and his laboratory, has been selected by Green Destinations, which awards sustainable tourism initiatives, as one of the 'Green Destinations Top 100 Stories for 2023'.
The Green Destinations Top 100 Stories is an annual competition organized by Green Destinations to showcase innovative and effective initiatives and projects that are taking place around the world towards more sustainable development. This year, the list was unveiled at the global conference “Green Destination 2023 Conference”, which took place in Estonia from 8-10 October.
In selecting the project of Yoron island this time, the co-authored article by CTR Researchers, Mr. Koki Sawada (CTR Visiting Junior Fellow; Graduate School of Tourism, Wakayama University), Mr. Tatsuki Yonezawa (Kimino Town Misato Observatory, Japan) and Prof. Masami Okyudo, published in the Wakayama Tourism Review Vol. 4 by CTR, was used as reference material.
