Theme

Applied spatial econometrics in tourism and hospitality research

Overview

Despite the longstanding emphasis on the importance of location in the tourism industry, there has been a general lack of consideration on location in research. Meanwhile, the recent advance of spatial econometric methods and increased availability of spatial data and tools such as GIS allows for greater integration of spatial effects in research models. This seminar attempts to introduce several examples, in which spatial econometric methods were applied to address longstanding research questions in the literature, and facilitate discussion on potential areas of application with consideration on future research.
